Oh yes, did rye LME "test batch" to learn just what "spicy" means. Used rye extract, .5# carapils, Kent Goldings hops, and Safale US-05. Made a good ale, but would not make 100% rye ale again. Adding 3-5% rye grain in my all grain Kentucky Cream and Kentucky Common adds a certain mystery spiciness that always gets compliments.
