Not really the best for higher gravity |

I normally am quite fond of the Czech lager strains. They have a little more yeast character than the German strains. This one, while decent for a darker beer, didn't really work very well in a higher gravity blonde lager (around 1.068). You get a little heavy on the esters, a little bit of a higher alcohol note.
It does, surprisingly, taste almost exactly like Gennessee, however. If you're really into Genny, this is probably very close to the yeast they use. I've drank my share of Genny Ice, and it too tastes boozy just like my beer. But at lower gravity, it has a wonderful flavor profile.
So long and short, keep it to beers at 5.5% or less and make sure you ferment cool and lager for at least two weeks. Even better would be to avoid pale beers, as it really has a nice flavor for darker beer.
